The aim of this project is to develop an innovative process for producing hydrogen from biomass and to evaluate its viability as an alternative technology for generating electricity.

The project comprises the study of obtaining electrical energy, free and without emissions, from Nicotinae Tabacum biomass through a two-stage process: gassification of N. Tabacum biomass and “water-gas” shift reaction for obtaining H2. When H2 has been obtained, the plan is to use this for obtaining electricity by means of a PEM fuel cell. The project will be carried out first on a laboratory scale and then on a pilot plant scale.
