The aim of the subproject is to develop and demonstrate in real integrated systems energy generation using hydrogen produced from renewable sources.

These systems will use different processes for reforming fuels derived from biomass or, in the case of portable applications, a system for storing hydrogen. The conversion of hydrogen into electricity will be performed in PEM fuel cells, using the developments made in the framework of the EPiCo Singular Strategic Project as a starting point. The systems proposed in this subproject will cover three different applications in a strategic sector of the national industry of portable applications considered “early market” by the European Commission and distributed generation of electrical energy. Specifically, two prototypes for stationary applications will be developed, one with hydrogen obtained from biogas and the other with hydrogen obtained from bioethanol, and two prototypes for portable applications.
