Innovation in the toy, textile and footwear sectors for their soci-economic renewal and growth necessarily implies the development of technical products of high added value and novel functionality. The end customer calls for customisation and bespoke manufacturing of products. Therefore, to encourage industrial growth, companies in the sector need to respond more accurately and quickly to customer demands. The aim of AMFAB is to improve competitiveness of companies of the toy, textile and footwear sectors of the Region of Valencia through the application of additive manufacturing technologies for obtaining functional or functionalised items for each industrial sector, developing both materials for requested requirements and new computer tools for product design.
New filaments will be designed for additive manufacturing technology (or 3D printing) and fused deposition modelling (FDM) that include biodegradable materials, natural materials, nano-materials and new functionalities to give them unique properties for use in the toy, textile and footwear sectors. In addition, new design programs and improved material surfaces created by 3D printing will be created.
AMFAB has a strong multidisciplinary nature and spans the entire process value chain, from the development of new filament formulations with particular mechanical properties to the optimisation of techniques involved in manufacturing of items by FDM.
AMFAB is a collaborative project between technology Institutes of the Region of Valencia that includes as participants the Technology Institute of the Toy (AIJU), the Technology Institute of Textiles (AITEX) and the Technology Institute of Footwear (INESCOP) and is funded by the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the ERDF Operational Programme of the Region of Valencia 2014-2020.
