“The overall result of the project is intended to be a methodology of overall work to enable toxicological evaluation of toy materials according to the standard requirements (substances + concentration). This would be very useful because the new revision of the Toys Directive includes controls on more elements and more organic compounds than are currently in place. If this new revision is approved, the situation for the manufacturer/importer will get considerably worse. Therefore, both manufacturers and the control laboratories would be very interested in the development of alternative chemical controls that are validated and that enable determination of the chemical safety of a product.”
